Direct Access a hot topic at the Dentistry Show 2014
Date: February 13th, 11:50

Corrie Jongbloed-Zoet, President of the Dutch Dental Hygienists Association (NVM) & Vice President of the International Federation of Dental Hygienists (IFDH), will be speaking in the Hygienist & Therapist Symposium at The Dentistry Show 2014 on Friday 28th February & Saturday 1st March at NEC Birmingham

As Direct Access became legal in the Netherlands in 2006, Corrie will be discussing how the intuitive has developed there in recent years, sharing her own experiences and looking to the future.

During my session, I will discuss the direct accessibility of the dental hygienist in the Netherlands, looking at the content of the four-year curriculum for their education and the considerations that led to this decision. Furthermore, I will explore the changing roles of the providers of oral health care - dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants – and how these changes will influence the oral health care profession with an example of a 'new style practice' with eight dental hygienists and one dentist.

I always encourage my colleagues to attend events like this. Not only to get involved in the industry, but also to keep informed of the latest developments in the field.
