Smile-on launches major dental nurse programme

Smile-on, a leading provider of integrated learning to the UK dental industry, is pleased to report the successful launch of its DNART (Dental Nurse Access to Registration Training) programme.

Already nationally available, DNART is a CD-ROM based programme appropriate for all dental nurses working in NHS practices. DNART is designed to provide training and assessment for dental nurses seeking to register with the General Dental Council (GDC) in the new category which requires experience and proof of competence. DNART is a subset of the more extensive DNNET, also offered by Smile-on, which provides the all the learning required for dental nurse qualification covering both the NVQ an national certificate.

To be accepted on the programme candidates must have at least 2 years experience and furnish proof of professional competence in the following areas, all of which are further developed in the DNART programme. -
? Infection control procedures
? CPR
? Health and safety
? Ionising radiation
? Working with dentists and patients
? Personal development.

While completing the programme does not in itself confer a qualification, it represents an excellent learning opportunity for all dental nurses, whether or not they are already qualified. A valuable stepping stone to the NVQ 3 in oral healthcare (dental nursing), it comprises 6 of the 14 modules which constitute the full DNNET course and covers 6 of the 9 mandatory units of the NVQ 3.
