The number of visitors to the new site at TheDentalWeb has exceeded expectations, ending 2004 on a high note with just under a quarter of a million hits recorded for the first three weeks in December alone - the busiest month since the site relaunched in April.Visitor numbers have been rising each month since the site relaunched, which like all new websites, takes a while to get established. In the last two months that growth has been exponential, with visitors during the first three weeks of December alone exceeding those for the whole of November and are twice those for October which in turn saw almost double those who visited during September.
Visitors come from around the world proving that the site is truly global and not just catering for the UK market which is good for the site and good for visitors and members as it will ultimately lead to a variety of content and a wider mixture of ideas and discussions.
The most popular areas of the site are the Forums, Web Links and News sections with an increasing number of news stories and web sites being submitted by members.
The site took a year to be completely redeveloped so that it could take advantage of the latest web technologies available and operates as a fully dynamic, constantly changing, data driven site. This provides opportunities for members to interact both with the site and each other, post reviews and links, add comments to news items and debate various issues affecting dentistry or life in general in the Forums. With over 1650 links and all the latest breaking dental news the site has become an invaluable Internet resource for everyone involved in dentistry.
