Retired dental practitioner Mike Townsend, 67, will be cycling 140 miles from Inverness to Fort William and back to raise awareness and money for the year-long ‘Be Active for the Ben Fund’ campaign.
He will be tackling Scotland’s Great Glen Way, which runs alongside Loch Ness, from 21-23 September 2012. If you’d like to make a donation, please visit: www.justgiving.com/MikeTownsendCycle140
A Guys Dental School graduate of 1968, Mike is acutely aware of the need for help from the Fund: “Many dentists are at the end of their tether,†he says. “A lot of them have got stress problems, mental health issues; some of them are suffering from serious illness.â€
The Fund relies heavily on donations from dentists, something that is increasingly difficult in times of economic uncertainty, “but,†he says, “if everyone contributed just a little, they wouldn’t have to dig that deep.â€
Please make a donation, organise a ‘Be Active’ event yourself like Dr Townsend, or join in with a local fundraising event, and help your colleagues in times of crisis.
